Defending the Bible: An Interview with Dr. John Lennox
Craig recently spoke to theologian John Lennox about his documentary, Against The Tide. The movie follows University of Oxford mathematician and philosopher Professor John Lennox and veteran Hollywood actor and director Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, GOD’S NOT DEAD, Supergirl) as they explore the compelling evidence of the harmony between science and Christianity.

An internationally renowned speaker and author on the interface of science, philosophy, and religion, Lennox breaks down the arguments and issues most often cited in apologetics debates, reflecting on the several very public, sold-out encounters he has had with well-known atheists Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Peter Singer, and Michael Shermer, among others. Sorbo and Lennox travel from Oxford to Cambridge to Israel, experiencing firsthand many of the sites that are key to fully understanding the false choice between science and faith. Sorbo probes Lennox on the issues and finds not only compelling answers but deeper questions as well.
His books, which span the fields of science, philosophy, and religion, include God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?, God and Stephen Hawking, Can Science Explain Everything?, Gunning for God, Where Is God In A Coronavirus World? and, 2084: Artificial Intelligence, the Future of Humanity, and the God Question.
In 1993, Kevin Sorbo emerged as a full-fledged international TV star when he was cast as the lead role of Hercules in a series of TV films that would lay the groundwork for the immensely popular series, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. He also guest-starred as Hercules in episodes of the successful spin-off series Xena: Warrior Princess as well as providing his voice to the animated Hercules films.
When asked about Against the Tide, Sorbo says, “I am frequently berated by Hollywood compatriots for my Christian faith. Bringing Against The Tide to the screen seemed a great opportunity to learn how to respond from a master in turning the atheist manifesto on its head. Furthermore, I get to appear as ‘myself!’”
Created by Pensmore Films and Kharis Productions, Against The Tide promises to be a film that is revisited and referenced for generations.
